Sports fans love their curses. Every time something appears to be going wrong for a certain team, there’s always seems to be some sort of curse to help explain it.
That brings us to last night’s AFC Wild Card game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins. As the final whistle blew and the Dolphins were eliminated as a result of their 26-7 loss, some detectives on social media were quick to notice a trend developing.
Specifically, they found that teams taking part in HBO’s in-season version of “Hard Knocks” have been the victims of some pretty devastating late-season collapses.
The in-season version of “Hard Knocks” began three years ago, in 2021. That season, it was the Colts who lost a win-or-go-home week 18 game against the last-place Jacksonville Jaguars.
One year later, it was the Cardinals losing their last seven games of the season after Kyler Murray suffered a torn ACL.
And in 2023, it was the Miami Dolphins dropping their final two games to blow the AFC East, before losing on the road to the Chiefs at Arrowhead.

The NFL is having a tough enough time finding teams who will take on the duties of having HBO’s cameras follow them around and give everyone (including their opponents) an inside look at how they go about their business.
This latest curse, conspiracy theory, or whatever you want to call it, certainly won’t help their cause going forward.
