Super Bowl 57 viewers will not soon forget the controversial holding call that brought a cheap end to one of the most exciting finals in recent memory. Eagles fans will definitely never forget it.
Now four days removed from the contest, the debate over James Bradberry’s hold on JuJu Smith-Schuster remains a key talking point, though Bradberry admitted he held the wide receiver as soon as a mic was put in front of him.
Now, NFL Films has released a novel angle of the incident that vindicates the officiating crew. Bradberry is clearly shown grabbing JuJu’s jersey in the video, which can be seen right below.
Of course, this will do nothing to quell the arguments. Whether or not there was a foul is not really the point of most debates, it’s the fact that the referees decided to call it at that particular moment. Had they shown some consistency, most fans and pundits would have been okay with the flag.
If you’re an avid football fan, you’re likely well aware that such actions take place all the time. The referees either choose to let the players continue playing or make a call. There’s no problem with that either, as long as a good game isn’t ruined by a flag that just as easily wouldn’t have been thrown when it’s going down to the wire.
