Netflix has released the trailer for the new documentary series, Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez.
From the years 2007 to 2013, the former New England Patriots tight end had been either a suspect or a defendant in six shootings in which three people were killed. In 2012, he signed a $39.5 million five-year contract extension with the team.
Things seemed to be going great, but Hernandez was clearly fighting demons within himself.
“No one has allegedly killed two people and then played an entire season as a professional athlete,” a voiceover states at the start of the trailer.
A three-part documentary series will feature exclusive courtroom footage, Hernandez’s phone calls from prison, and interviews with those who knew Hernandez. The series is said to examine the perfect storm of factors leading to the trial, conviction, and death of an athlete who seemingly had it all.
Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez debuts on Netflix on January 15.
