Simpson’s acquittal was highly controversial for various reasons, including the infamous Bronco chase and because the circumstantial and forensic evidence largely pointed toward Simpson being the killer.
But Simpson’s legal “dream team” led by Johnnie Cochran, F. Lee Bailey, Robert Shapiro and Robert Kardashian managed to get him off the hook. Simpson was later found liable in a civil trial and ordered to pay the victims’ families $33.5 million.
The Juice’s legal troubles resurfaced in 2007, when he was arrested for leading a group of armed men into the Las Vegas Palace Station hotel to steal sports memorabilia he claimed was his. Simpson was handed a 33-year prison sentence but got paroled in 2017.
