Netflix has announced a partnership with the NFL for a new docu-series branded “Quarterback” set to offer fans a unique view of the football season through the eyes of NFL QBs.
The series’ first season will feature the likes of Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins, and Marcus Mariota, giving unprecedented access to the signal-callers both on and off the field from the beginning of the 2022 season all the way to the Super Bowl (in Mahomes’ case).
The league allowed QBs to be mic’d up for every single game for the first time ever, so there will be quite a lot to unpack. Mahomes, who led the Chiefs to a second Super Bowl triumph in four seasons, will be of particular interest. But Cousins and Mariota will present as much intrigue, with the former firing the Vikings to the NFC North Division title on the back of the greatest comeback in NFL history while the latter took over as a starter for the Falcons in 2022.
Mahomes’ 2PM Productions will produce the series alongside NFL Films and Omaha Productions, where Peyton Manning is the executive producer.
“I’m excited for fans to get an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at an unforgettable season for the entire Chiefs organization and for my family,” Mahomes said, per NFL.com. “From welcoming home a new baby in the middle of the season to welcoming the Lombardi trophy back to Kansas City, our crew was there for it all. This new Netflix series will show the time, preparation and balance that it takes to be an NFL quarterback and perform on the biggest stage.”
“Playing quarterback in the NFL is a unique experience that has some pretty incredible ups and downs,” Manning added. “Thanks to this collaboration with our partners at NFL Films, 2PM Productions and Netflix, fans will be given a unique and intimate look at what life is like as a starting QB.”
