NBC and the NFL have announced that the network has acquired an additional regular-season game as part of the 2024 NFL schedule.
The game will air across NBC, Peacock, and Telemundo on Saturday, December 21.
It’s also been revealed that the 2024 season-opener will be an AFC Championship Game rematch between the Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens and will kick off on NBC and Peacock on September 5.
As for the extra game, it will be an afternoon fixture on said date coupled with ‘Sunday Night Football’ on December 22 and will mark the first time NBCUniversal hosts NFL games on both Saturday and Sunday since 1997.
“We’re excited to work with our partners at the NFL to acquire an additional game for NBCUniversal platforms at a crucial point in the playing season,” NBC Sports president Rick Cordella said, via NFL.com. “With two NFL games in exclusive windows on the last December weekend before the holidays, we continue to deliver for our owned-stations, affiliates and partners.”

NBC’s 2024 NFL Schedule Will Be Released This Week
And, in a first where the league is concerned, NBCUniversal will open the season with three primetime games, starting with the aforementioned AFC Championship Game rematch, which falls on a Thursday.
The Green Bay Packers will then face the Philadelphia Eagles in Sao Paulo, Brazil, in a game set to air exclusively on Peacock on September 6, marking the first opening weekend Friday game.
‘Sunday night Football’ comes up next on September 8.
The network’s full 2024 NFL schedule is due to drop this Wednesday.
