Play-by-play announcer Al Michaels hasn’t shied away from his displeasure with the lackluster performances on “Thursday Night Football” and he is often called out for his lack of enthusiasm during games.
Fans will not get a chance to blast him for the playoffs because he will not be there.
Per a new report, NBC will not have Al Michaels back for the postseason this year, as they did last year for Chargers-Jaguars game. The New York Post reported Tuesday that NBC has elected not to use Michaels on any of its three Wild Card weekend windows this season.
Micheals reportedly knew this move was coming.
Instead, NBC’s No. 1 college team, Noah Eagle and Todd Blackledge, will be on the call for the second NBC Wild Card playoff game.
Michaels, the lead voice of NFL games on NBC from 2006-22, remained under contract with NBC after being demoted in favor of Tirico.

Michaels has worked on several Super Bowl broadcasts and is known for his smooth and distinctive broadcasting style. He spent many years as the lead play-by-play announcer for ABC’s “Monday Night Football” before transitioning to NBC Sports.
