Apparently, life is pretty darn good when you’re an unsuccessful NFL head coach.
At least that’s the case for Nathaniel Hackett, who is set to make an insane amount of money while he sits at home doing nothing after being fired by the Denver Broncos.
During the 2022 offseason, Hackett signed a four-year contract with the Broncos to become the team’s new head coach. And as long as he doesn’t take another job in the league, the team will have to continue paying him the full amount for the duration of the contract.
According to reports, that amounts to $80,000 per week.
If Hackett does take a job at the NFL level during the next three seasons, the team who hires him will pay him whatever amount they agree on, and the Broncos will be required to make up the difference so that he’s still getting his $80K per week.
It’s a brutal contract, indeed. But it’s still not even close to the atrocity that is Russell Wilson’s five-year, $242.5-million contract.
