It’s been an adventurous past five months for linebacker Myles Jack, who went from out of work to looking at trade school to suddenly finding himself back in the NFL.
The Pittsburgh Steelers released the veteran linebacker back in March. Per Zach Berman of The Athletic, Jack stated that he was considering trade school for plumbing or electrical work before signing with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Although Jack has banked tens of millions of dollars in his playing career, he stated that he enjoys working and didn’t want to “sit at home”, per Berman.
A second-round pick (36th overall) of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2016, Jack and fellow veteran linebacker Zach Cunningham signed with the Eagles on Sunday. Jack spent his first six seasons with the Jaguars (2016 to 2021) before joining the Steelers last year.
Jack appeared in 15 games (making 13 starts) for the Steelers last season, recording three pass defenses and 104 combined tackles. His most productive season came in 2018, when Jack had an interception, one forced fumble, 2.5 career sacks and 107 combined tackles.

The Jaguars reached the 2017 AFC Championship Game in Jack’s rookie year, but they lost a heartbreaker to the New England Patriots.
In that game, Jack was mistakenly ruled down after a fumble recovery in the fourth quarter (the Jaguars were up 10 at that point) when he had a clear path to the end zone. The Patriots scored 14 unanswered points to win the game. Six seasons later, Jack finally gets another realistic shot at a Super Bowl with the defending NFC champs.
