The Miami Dolphins have reportedly released a former starting running back.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Fins are cutting Myles Gaskin, something thought to have raised some eyebrows given their interest in Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor.
Gaskin has been with Miami for the past four seasons and had his best campaign in 2021 when he rushed for 612 yards and scored three touchdowns. He started three games out of four in 2022.
Whether or not the Dolphins complete a trade for Taylor, they should be competent enough given that Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson Jr. have a good history with head coach Mike McDaniels from his time with the San Francisco 49ers. The team also drafted De’Von Achane in the third round of the most recent NFL Draft.
Things already look promising for Miami’s RB department, however, adding Taylor would make it formidable.
The Fins are reported to have already made an offer to the Colts that was rejected. It’s understood that they are comfortable with the proposal as they believe it was a reasonable one and expect to negotiate their way through to what would be a major acquisition.

Should they pull it off, they’d be giving Tua Tagovailoa an offense boasting the likes of Taylor, Tyreek Hill, and Jaylen Waddle that could go on to win the AFC East.
