This is how desperate teams are to have a great QB and shows just how talented Deshaun Watson is on the field.
According to Mike Florio, sources tell him there are multiple teams who would be willing to pull the trigger on a trade for the Texans QB even with his civil cases in limbo. Florio adds those teams would just need to see the criminal charges against Watson resolved.
Watson’s lawyer said in a hearing he expects the criminal cases to be resolved by April 1st. Watson currently faces 10 criminal complaints from eight women regarding allegations of sexual misconduct as well as 22 civil cases.
The 26-year-old did not dress or play a single down during the 2021 season following the allegations of sexual misconduct during massage sessions, though he wasn’t suspended by the NFL or placed on the commissioner’s exempt list. He demanded a trade before his legal issues and the relationship between him and the team has been over ever since.
He’s under contract through 2025 as part of a four-year, $156 million deal.
The three-time Pro Bowl selection has completed 67.8 percent of his passes for 14,539 yards with 104 passing touchdowns and 36 interceptions in 54 career regular-season games. He’s added 1,677 rushing yards and 17 scores on the ground.
He will help any team going forward. As for his soon-to-be former team, the Texans are staring down another rebuild after posting a 4-13 record in 2021. Dealing Watson for a massive package could speed things up.
