The New York Giants are one of the more mysterious teams heading into round one of the 2024 NFL Draft.
With the No. 6 selection, the New York Giants are in a good spot to land one of the top quarterback prospects, depending on who remains between LSU’s Jayden Daniels, North Carolina’s Drake Maye and Michigan’s JJ McCarthy.
But as you’ve seen in countless mock drafts, many other experts project that the Giants will either address the offensive line or snag one of the “big three” wide receiver prospects in Ohio State’s Marvin Harrison Jr., Washington’s Rome Odunze or LSU’s Malik Nabers.
Though McCarthy himself has been linked aplenty to the Giants in recent days, ESPN’s Dan Graziano reported yesterday that New York’s preferred quarterback is Maye:
“The Giants have been tough to get a handle on. A month ago, many in the league believed their favorite quarterback in the class was McCarthy. If that were true, things have changed. The rumblings early this week: The Giants’ guy is Maye.”
Additionally, NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah, The Athletic’s Dane Brugler and Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer all reported together in an X/Twitter thread that the Giants don’t appear to be a fit for McCarthy:

The Giants handed starting quarterback Daniel Jones a four-year, $160 million extension last offseason. But since they can get out of his deal with minimal financial ramifications next year, that won’t stop the Giants from potentially selecting Jones’ successor.
In his final NCAA season, Maye threw for 3,608 yards and 24 touchdowns against nine interceptions.
New York Giants Need To Draft A Quarterback
Daniel Jones has had five seasons now to prove himself as a franchise QB, but the 2019 first-round pick just hasn’t cut it.
It’s long overdue for the Giants to seek a change at the game’s most important position, and this year’s QB-heavy draft class presents a golden opportunity for GM Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll to make the move.
Even if the Giants don’t take a QB with the No. 6 pick, they should look at trading up for another prospect like Michael Penix Jr., Bo Nix or Spencer Rattler.
