The mother of a Kansas City Chiefs player has taken to social media to clear the air following reports claiming she died.
Wendy Taylor, the mother of Chiefs offensive tackle Jawaan Taylor, has released a video in which she explains it’s her son’s paternal grandmother who’s passed away.
Reports of Jawaan’s mom passing away went viral online this Wednesday, with the player said to have told reporters as much during a media session ahead of Sunday’s Super Bowl clash against the San Francisco 49ers.
As noted above, his mom made a video for social media confirming that she’s very much alive while expressing how much the “matriarch of the family” will be missed.

The player has also put out a post in which he makes it clear that it’s his grandmother, not his mother, who’s passed away.
Taylor, who lost his dad in early 2022, joined the Chiefs on a four-year, $80 million deal last year. He will hope to win his first Super Bowl on Sunday, having dedicated the game to his deceased grandmother.
