Three more teams are said to have joined the race for Derek Carr following his visits to the New Orleans Saints and New York Jets.
The free-agent quarterback is poised to decide his own future after getting shut down by the Las Vegas Raiders at the end of the season. The team had been hoping to deal the signal-caller but the no-trade clause in his contract allowed him to put himself on the market instead.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, three new teams have reached out to the four-time Pro Bowl QB. The teams have not been named, but it appears the market is heating up for Carr, which is likely what he was hoping for when he refused to sign off on a trade.
“Interest in Carr remains high,” Flower said on NFL Live this week.
There are multiple NFL teams in need of a quarterback ahead of next season, with Carr one of the top available free agents in the position. The situation with Aaron Rodgers remains unclear but another veteran, Jimmy Garoppolo, is also an option while there is ongoing speculation over Lamar Jackson given his contract standoff with the Baltimore Ravens.
The Jets are understood to have had a very positive meeting with the quarterback, during which they made some pretty bold promises.
