The NFL world was shook yesterday by the tragic loss of one of its current players, Baltimore Ravens linebacker Jaylon Ferguson.
At the time, not much was known about his death. But in the 24 hours since the 26-year-old’s passing, new information has come out that sheds a little more light on the situation.
According to Baltimore Police, Ferguson was found in his home just before noon on Tuesday, were medics attempted to treat his unresponsive body. He never regained consciousness and was eventually pronounced dead at the scene. Police say there was no signs of trauma, but investigators have not ruled out the possibility of an overdose.

At approximately 11:25 p.m. Tuesday, Baltimore Police said officers responded to a home in the northern district of the city, where they found Ferguson unresponsive and being treated by medics. Ferguson never regained consciousness and was pronounced dead on the scene by medics, according to police.
Baltimore Police said there were no signs of trauma found and no foul play was suspected at this time. Ferguson’s body was transported to the medical examiner’s office, where a cause of death will be determined. Investigators are not ruling out the possibility of an overdose, a police spokesperson said.

Ferguson was a third-round pick of the Ravens in 2019. In his three seasons in the league, he totaled 67 tackles and 4.5 sacks. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.
