We have a huge trade in the NFL.
The Washington Commanders are trading defensive end Montez Sweat to the Chicago Bears for a 2024 second-round pick, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Sweat, a first-round pick in 2019, is in the last year of his contract.
The decision to deal with Sweat wasn’t originally expected to be made until after this regular season but with a disappointing first half of the year, it appears the change needed to happen now.
Sweat was the last Washington player off the field after losing to the Eagles and appeared to be fighting back emotions as he was asked about the possibility of being split from fellow defensive end Chase Young.
“That’s my brother, man,” Young said when asked about the possibility he’s played his last game with the Commanders with Sweat. “Twin towers, we are rocking for life. That’s not going to change if we aren’t on the same team.”

Now his nightmare has come true and he is now separated from his good friend.
Now, Sweat joins the Bears, who will have the chance to sign him to a lucrative extension this offseason.
