Pittsburgh Steelers fans have finally gotten what they want, and it only took until week 4.
On Sunday, the Steelers opted to bench Mitch Trubisky and put first-round rookie Kenny Pickett into the game.
Chicago declined Trubisky’s fifth-year option after 2020, which allowed him to become an unrestricted free agent last offseason. The Bills signed him to a one-year contract last year and he signed a two-year deal with the Steelers this past offseason.
Against the jets on Sunday, Trubisky was 7 of 13 for 84 yards and one interception. He has struggled to get this Steelers offense going all year, as the team entered today’s contest with a 1-2 record, having failed to score more than 20 points in regulation in any of those three games.
