The Dallas Cowboys’ lead on the Minnesota Vikings was astronomical enough for CBS to end the broadcast…in the third quarter.
Coming off a statement road win over the Buffalo Bills on the road in Week 10, Kirk Cousins and the Vikings put up a stinker against the visiting Cowboys. The game got so out of hand in the third quarter that CBS switched over to the Cincinnati Bengals-Pittsburgh Steelers game at Acrisure Stadium.

The Cowboys held a 10-3 lead after the first quarter, and the Vikings wouldn’t get any closer from there. Two lengthy Brett Maher field goals (53 and 60 yards) and a 30-yard Tony Pollard touchdown pass helped Dallas build a 23-3 lead heading into halftime.
Pollard essentially iced the game with a 68-yard touchdown reception from Dak Prescott early in the third quarter. Ezekiel Elliott put up his second one-yard rushing TD of the day to increase Dallas’ lead to 37-3.
Dallas got to 40 when Maher made a 50-yarder in the fourth quarter. The visitors routed the NFC North leaders 40-3, improving to 7-3 on the season.
Fortunately, viewers did get to see a more entertaining game in Pittsburgh. Kenny Pickett and the Steelers kept pace with Joe Burrow and the Bengals for most of the game. The visitors held off a late Pittsburgh rally and held on for a 37-30 victory.
The Cowboys’ defense was over Cousins all day long. They put up seven sacks and held him to 12 completions for 105 yards. Minny’s vaunted rushing game finished with only 73 yards, and superstar wideout Justin Jefferson was limited to three catches for 33 yards.
Both the Cowboys and Vikings play on Thursday night. Dallas will now travel back home for a pivotal late afternoon showdown with the New York Giants, and the Vikings will stay home to host the surging New England Patriots.
