Minnesota Vikings star wide receiver Jordan Addison has been charged with two misdemeanors, less than a month after his arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence.
According to Ben Goessling of the Star Tribune, Jordan Addison has been charged with a pair of misdemeanors after he was arrested near the Los Angeles International Airport on July 12 for a suspected DUI. Addison was asleep in his car when officers found him.
Goessling added that Addison has a court date on Oct. 7. The second-year wide receiver faces a possible prison sentence of up to six months and a three-game suspension for the NFL:
“He has an Oct. 7 appearance in Los Angeles court to be arraigned and enter his plea for the charges. If he is convicted or pleads guilty, he could face up to six months in jail, pay fines up to $2,000 or lose his driver’s license for up to six months.
According to the NFL’s policy and program on substances of abuse, players face a three-game suspension for their first criminal offense regarding alcohol use, absent any aggravating circumstances that would lead to further discipline. Addison was cited for driving 140 mph on Interstate-94 in St. Paul last July, but was not charged with any alcohol- or drug-related offenses in that case, which could help him avoid harsher penalties related to his July 2024 arrest.”
Last September, the NFL suspended then-New Orleans Saints safety Marcus Maye for three games due to his DUI arrest in September 2021. That was Maye’s only arrest for an alcohol or substance-related offense, so it’s difficult to envision Addison not getting the same three-game suspension.

Jordan Addison was one of the top rookies of 2023, recording 70 receptions for 911 yards and 10 touchdowns, tied with Sam LaPorta of the Detroit Lions for most among first-year players. Puka Nacua (Los Angeles Rams) and Rashee Rice (Kansas City Chiefs) were the only rookies with more receiving yards than Addison.
Even if Addison gets suspended, the Vikings still have superstar wide receiver Justin Jefferson, Pro Bowl tight end TJ Hockenson and running back Aaron Jones to lead the way on offense. Still, this unit functions better with the dynamic receiving duo of JJ and Addison on the field together.
Vikings Open Season At New York Giants
The Vikings will kick off their 2024 season with a road contest against the New York Giants, a team that notably passed on Michigan QB JJ McCarthy before he was taken by Minnesot at No. 10 overall.
If Addison is hit with a three-game suspension, he’d be eligible to return in the team’s Week 4 road game against the Green Bay Packers.
