The red-hot Minnesota Vikings are bringing back a longtime fan favorite to help their postseason push.
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Vikings are signing four-time Pro Bowl linebacker Anthony Barr, who previously played for the organization from 2014 to 2021.
Veteran linebacker Jordan Hicks required a procedure on a shin injury and will likely miss some time, per ESPN’s Kevin Seifert. If that’s the case, Barr can expect considerable playing time given his familiarity with Minnesota.
Barr spent the 2022 season with the Dallas Cowboys, appearing in 14 games and helping them to a 12-win campaign. He finished the year with one sack, one pass defense, two fumble recoveries and 58 combined tackles.
After starting out 1-4, the Vikings have rallied with five straight wins. Veteran journeyman Josh Dobbs, acquired in a trade deadline deal with the Arizona Cardinals, has won both his starts with Minny despite the absence of star wideout Justin Jefferson.

The Vikings are sitting comfortably in a wild card spot at 6-4. Barr, who helped Minnesota to postseason appearances in 2015, 2017 and 2018, gets another chance to bring the franchise its first ever Super Bowl championship.
Barr had arguably his best season as a sophomore in 2015. That year, he led Minny to a surprise NFC North division crown after tallying 3.5 sacks, seven pass defenses, one interception and a trio of forced fumbles.
