The Minnesota Vikings are making another change at quarterback ahead of their crucial clash against the Green Bay Packers in Week 17.
According to ESPN, rookie QB Jaren Hall has gotten the nod for Sunday’s game, with head coach Kevin O’Connell confirming as much. This will mark the fourth starter change for the Vikings since Kirk Cousins was sidelined with a torn Achilles tendon in Week 8.
Hall, who was picked in the fifth round of the last NFL Draft, was backup to Cousins at the time of his injury and started in Week 9. However, the outing was ruined as he was made to exit the game with a concussion in the first quarter.
He is set to replace Nick Mullens following a 0-2 stretch that saw the latter throw for 714 yards, four touchdowns, and six interceptions amid a period that has left the Vikings teetering, with their playoff hopes now hanging in the balance.
“We have to maintain possession of the football,” O’Connell was quoted as saying. “The turnover margin has been well-talked about all season long, and I just felt like, at this time, giving Jaren a full week of preparation and a clear-cut mindset on the game plan [was best].
“I’m excited to see what Jaren can ultimately do.”

Minnesota brought Joshua Dobbs in from the Arizona Cardinals after Cousins went down. He replaced Hall in that Week 9 game and started the next four before Mullens took over.
The coaching staff liked what they saw from Hall in that solitary start. He completed five of six passes for 78 yards and scrambled for 11 yards before getting injured.
