The Minnesota Vikings have made another roster move at quarterback.
On Friday afternoon, the team announced on social media that they have released former Minnesota Golden Gophers star quarterback Tanner Morgan from their practice squad.
Morgan played for the Golden Gophers from 2017 to 2022, earning a Second-team All-Big Ten selection in the 2019 season. He signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers after going undrafted this year, but he was waived ahead of final roster cuts.
Last month, the Vikings added Morgan to their roster, only to waive him a few days later. He was brought back on Wednesday, only to be let go 48 hours later.
The Vikings lost starter Kirk Cousins for the season with a torn Achilles back in Week 9. Ahead of the Oct. 31 trade deadline, GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah completed a trade for Arizona Cardinals quarterback Josh Dobbs.
Dobbs backed up rookie Jaren Hall for the team’s Week 9 game against the Atlanta Falcons. Dobbs had to finish the game after Hall left with a concussion, and the veteran journeyman led Minny to a last-minute 31-28 comeback win.
