A top NFC team from 2022 is reportedly worth following in the DeAndre Hopkins sweepstakes.
The Arizona Cardinals’ star wide receiver has been the subject of trade rumors for close to three months now. Several clubs have been linked to the five-time Pro Bowler, but the 30-year-old remains a Cardinal for the time being.
The Kansas City Chiefs, Dallas Cowboys, New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills are among the teams who have been widely mentioned as potential landing spots for Hopkins. But according to a report, the defending NFC North champion Minnesota Vikings are also a possible destination for Hopkins.
Speaking to Kenneth Teape of NFL Analysis Network, a former NFL executive revealed that Kevin O’Connell’s club shouldn’t be ruled out as a possible spot for Hopkins:
“The DeAndre Hopkins trade talks are very active. One dark-horse team that has come into some discussions is the Vikings. They’re not a front-runner, but they can’t be counted out yet.”
The Vikings already have arguably the best wide receiver in football in Justin Jefferson. Adding Hopkins to the group would make the unit even more prolific. Plus, Minnesota has a need for a WR2 after cutting fan favorite Adam Thielen in a cap-saving move. Thielen went on to sign with the Carolina Panthers.
Hopkins was limited to nine games last season, but he still tallied a remarkable stat line of 64 receptions for 717 yards and three touchdowns. Hopkins has crossed the 1,000-yard make six times in his 10-year career.

Minnesota has Jefferson, star running back Dalvin Cook and Pro Bowl QB Kirk Cousins to headline the offense. Hopkins would unquestionably be an upgrade over Thielen in the WR2 role, but will the Vikings actually try to make the move? Only time will tell.
