The Minnesota Vikings could look to the NFL Draft for a replacement for Kirk Cousins.
The Vikings have the No. 11 pick in the first round of the upcoming draft but are expected to trade up in order to select a top QB from the impressive class of incoming signal-callers.
Answering questions from fans in a column, the Star Tribune’s Andrew Krammer noted that the Vikings “like this QB draft,” though that’s unlikely to spell the end for Cousins in Minnesota as the team wants to resign the veteran QB, as well as draft another player for the position.
“Adofo-Mensah has said publicly they want to re-sign Cousins if they can make the money work, and again we’ve privately heard that they like this QB draft class,” he wrote.
“Reloading the roster becomes even more difficult if the Vikings allocate both more money to Cousins and the top draft pick at quarterback,” he added. “But it’s the most important position in sports. And head coach Kevin O’Connell just saw how difficult it can be for new quarterbacks to run his system.”
Cousins suffered a season-ending Achilles injury in a Week 8 win over the Green Bay Packers but has undergone stem cell treatment in order to speed up his recovery as he’s heading into free agency.

It appears the Vikings want him around for at least another season due to the difficulties involved in drafting their playbook.
