According to an NFL insider, the Minnesota Vikings may be in line to make a major trade.
With current starting quarterback Kirk Cousins in the last year of his contract and his future with the team in doubt, the Vikings could look to trade for a future starter, and NFL analyst Kay Adams believes that the Vikings could trade for the San Francisco 49ers Trey Lance.
“How about the Vikings? This is the team that I saw pop up and I said, ‘Oh my god, I like that.’ First of all, cute connection family vibe there, that’s his hometown team. You want to send him there, there’s no rush for him to like get out there and do anything.
A change in scenery could do wonders for Lance. The 3rd pick in the 2021 NFL draft, San Francisco selected him to be their quarterback of the future. Unfortunately, injuries and depth at their position has kept the young star on the sidelines as other quarterbacks on the team have stepped up in his place.
With their quarterback rotation set, Lance is on the outside of their immediate plans, and the 49ers are listening to offers.

For the Vikings, Adams notes that the Vikings have weak depth at the position behind Cousins, and with no real succession plans, they could trade for Lance and have him sit behind Cousins and learn for the season.
The Vikings are the reigning NFC North champions with Cousins under center, who threw for 4,500 yards and 29 touchdowns, but they’re now competing with a rising Detroit Lions team as well as a much improved Bears and new Look Packers.
With Trey Lance available in trade talks, the Vikings would be wise to select the high ceiling quarterback and start getting reps with a new team as they look at life after Cousins.
