The Denver Broncos are preparing to renovate their Mile High stadium ahead of next season and have provided a sneak peek at what the venue should look like after completion.
The NFL team just announced plans to spend north of $100 million on Mile High, expressing a desire to see the stadium remain one of the better sports and entertainment spots in the U.S.
“This significant investment in Empower Field at Mile High — the largest in the stadium’s history — demonstrates the deep commitment by the Walton-Penner Family Ownership Group to immediately and continually provide the best possible experience for our fans,” president Damani Leech noted. “As we look toward the future with the long-term plans for our stadium, we are equally focused on the present to ensure Empower Field at Mile High remains a premier sports and entertainment venue.
“We are excited to announce these upgrades to Empower Field at Mile High and are grateful for the support of our ownership group, the Metropolitan Football Stadium District and the National Football League.”

What’s Getting Upgraded At Mile High?
One of the most notable upgrades should come in the form of a much bigger scoreboard. The Broncos plan to place a 72-by-225-foot screen at their south end zone, which will surpass the current one by 31 feet and rank as the fourth-largest in the NFL.
The Broncos will also be upgrading their video board, a pair of other in-bowl videoboards, plus the ribbon board.
As you might expect, amenities such as in-house suites and concession stands will also be renovated as part of this massive project.
The Metropolitan Football Stadium District has approved $12 million in funding, with the Broncos to cover the remaining cost via G-4 financing approved by the league this Wednesday.
The NFL’s G-4 program is one that makes it so teams can get assistance for stadium projects.
Renovations will begin at the end of the current season and are expected to be done by the start of next season.
