Mike Williams, a former wide receiver for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Buffalo Bills, was reportedly said to have died from injuries suffered at a construction site last week. Hours later, it would be revealed that he actually was on life support fighting for his life.
His fight to remain alive ended this week when it was announced he was gone.
A steel beam falling on his head caused massive injuries to him and he reportedly had swelling on his brain and would be paralyzed.
Williams was a standout college football at Syracuse University for three seasons from 2006 to 2009. He enjoyed a decorated collegiate career, finishing ninth in program history in career receptions, eighth in receiving yards, and second in touchdowns caught. Williams entered the league in 2010 and was the Offensive Rookie of the Year runner-up with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
He played three more seasons in Tampa before he was traded to his hometown Buffalo Bills in his last NFL season in 2014. Williams attempted a comeback with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2016 but was released.
We send many thoughts and prayers to his friends and family during this difficult time.
