Former NFL wide receiver Mike Williams is alive on life support, according to significant news updates.
Previous reports stated that Williams had succumbed to injuries suffered in a construction accident. But multiple reports are now stating that Williams is alive, even reacting when his eight-year-old daughter came in to visit him.
Tierney Lyle, the mother of Williams’ daughter, told Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times that he remains on life support at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Lyle stated that Williams suffered his injuries in an accident in Hillsborough County. Per Stroud, Lyle added she “believed the plan was to remove Williams from life support but that hasn’t happened yet.”

A former standout wide receiver at Syracuse, Williams was drafted in the fourth round (101st overall) by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers back in 2010. The 6-foot-2 Williams had a stellar rookie year with 65 catches for 964 yards and 11 touchdowns, helping Tampa to a surprise 10-win season that saw them barely miss out on the postseason.
Williams followed that up with a 65-catch campaign for 771 yards and nine touchdowns. In 2012, he racked up 63 catches for a career-high 996 yards and nine touchdowns. Williams’ final NFL season was with the Buffalo Bills in 2014, when he caught eight passes for 142 yards and a touchdown.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Williams, his family and friends. Here’s hoping that he makes a safe and full recovery.
