Mike Tomlin certainly did not want this controversy put on his doorstep.
The Pittsburgh Steelers head coach has been linked as one of many candidates to take up the head coaching position for the Washington redskins after the team fired Jay Gruden on Monday.
Tomlin was asked about it at his Tuesday press conference and he fired back about it not being his focus right now.
“I’m the head coach of a 1-4 football team that’s going on the road to play a Hall of Fame quarterback with a third-string quarterback,” Tomlin said. “Do you think I’m worried about anything other than that?”
In answering that, Tomlin seemed to confirm that undrafted rookie quarterback Devlin Hodges will make his first career start against the Chargers on Sunday night, with Mason Rudolph still in the NFL concussion protocol.
