Mike Tomlin is the head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers. And, contrary to what the rumors are saying, that’s not going to change anytime soon… At least not if we’re to believe what Tomlin had to say at his press conference earlier today.
Tomlin’s name has been floating around as a possibility to fill the vacant Trojans coaching position ever since Carson Palmer spilled the beans that the Super Bowl winning coach was a candidate for the job.
With new like this hitting the internet, it was only a matter of time before Tomlin was asked about the possibility of joining the USC coaching staff. And that time came today, when Tomlin was asked the question during his press conference as his Steelers get set to return from the bye and take on the Cleveland Browns.
So, what did Mike have to say about the USC rumors? Have a listen:
“I don’t have time for that speculation. I mean, that’s a joke to me. I got one of the best jobs in all of professional sports. Why would I have any interest in coaching college football? That’ll be the last time that I address it. And not only today, but moving forward. Never say never, but never.
“Okay? Anybody else got any questions about any college jobs? There’s not a booster with a big enough blank check.
“Thank you. Anybody asking Sean Payton about stuff like that? Anybody asking Andy Reid about stuff like that?”

Tomlin was noticeably peeved about the topic, and he stormed off the podium immediately after that.
So, is Tomlin telling the truth? Is there no price that could attract him to Southern Cal? Because I fully expect the people at USC to open their check books and test just how truthful that statement is.
Tomlin has been coaching the Steelers since 2007. Just two years after being hired by the club, he led them to a Super Bowl title.
