You don’t really need to be close to 300 pounds if you’re no longer an offensive lineman.
That’s likely the logic employed by ex-Miami Dolphins star Mike Pouncey. The former center weighed nearly 300 pounds while he played in the NFL and, standing at 6ft 5in, he was quite the physical specimen.
But he’s hardly recognizable now, having shed 70 pounds since retiring in 2020. Mike says his twin brother Maurkice has also cut 70 pounds off his weight. Maurkice was also a pro center who played in the NFL, spending his entire career with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was also a Pro Bowler in nine of his 10 years spent in the league.
Mike, who spent two years with the Los Angeles Chargers before retiring, is a former Pro Bowler himself, having received the honor on four occasions.
He’s revealed that he and Maurkice now “eat like rabbits” but ate “like pigs” back when they played.

It appears simply cutting calories is good enough to lose you significant weight. Former five-time Pro Bowl star and Super Bowl champion Marshal Yanda has also slimmed down drastically since retiring. Yanda said he went from eating 6,000 calories a day to eating a third of that and lost 60 pounds in just three months.
The likes of Joe Thomas, a former Browns star, and Jeff Saturday, who was the recent Indianapolis Colts head coach on a temporary basis, have also trimmed down following their playing careers.
