Miami Dolphins’ Mike McDaniel is evolving as a head coach with each passing game.
The Miami Dolphins sent a message on Sunday. Not just to the rest of the AFC East, but perhaps the entire conference, and the NFL at large.
At one point during the game, McDaniels was playing mind games with the Los Angeles Chargers. During a challenge, both head coaches would be put in the spotlight on the mega jumbotron at SoFi Stadium.
Chargers head coach Brandon Staley was too busy pacing the sidelines while McDaniels noticed he was on the big screen. He then started calling out fake plays to confuse the team.
As you saw, the Dolphins did way more throwing than running.

Tua Tagovailoa exploded for 466 yards and three touchdowns in Miami’s 36-34 Week 1 win over the Chargers. Among his 466 yards was a 47-yard pass to wide receiver Tyreek Hill and 35-yard passes to Hill and Jaylen Waddle.
The No. 5 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft outplayed Chargers signal-caller Justin Herbert, who tossed for 229 passing yards and one touchdown.
Tagovailoa finally found himself last year when he played in 13 games and threw 3,548 yards and 25 touchdowns, but his campaign was marred by multiple concussions that forced the NFL to change league policy about head injuries.
The 25-year-old said he considered retirement before this season but ultimately committed to staying in the NFL as he found a new way to fall by learning jiu-jitsu.
