Tua Tagovailoa is one of the most improved players in the league this season and every fan base truly loves to see it as it appeared he might be falling into the bust category. Tua has been so good that he has actually generated MVP buzz because of his stellar play and ability to impact winning.
It’s a good thing that the third-year pro has been able to bounce back after iffy rookie and sophomore campaigns in the NFL. According to reporter Aditi Kinkhabwala, things reached a point last year where Tagovailoa questioned himself in a terrible way.
“He looked in the mirror, and he asked himself, ‘Do I suck?’” Kinkhabwala said of the Dolphins star. “He genuinely didn’t know if he belonged on this level because he was so beleaguered by both the fan base and his coaches. And then Mike McDaniel put together a 700-play tape to show him how good he actually is.”
Somebody has some incredible time to put together 700 plays, but it did the work. The Dolphins are currently the No. 2 seed in the AFC and Tua is second in MVP odds. Not to mention, the team has not lost a game he’s finished this year. When Tagovailoa has played either the entire game, the Dolphins are 8-0. His numbers are phenomenal: 2,564 yards, 19 touchdowns and just three interceptions.
Tagovailoa apparently took a slight jab at Flores while praising McDaniel’s captain selection process earlier this year. Under McDaniel’s leadership, Tagovailoa has reportedly never been happier.
This past Sunday, Tua demolished the Texans going 22-36 through the air for 299 yards and a touchdown. His numbers could’ve looked even better but the team took him out after they had a 30-0 lead and after he took a bad looking sack that had him limping.
