This week was already gong to be an eventful one for the Dallas Cowboys, as they headed into perhaps their most important game of the season, at home against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday Night Football. But it got that much crazier following an unexpected health scare for head coach Mike McCarthy.
On Wednesday, it was announced that McCarthy would be undergoing emergency appendectomy.
Prior to the start of Sunday’s slate of games, FOX’s Jay Glazer provided an update on McCarthy’s status heading into tonight’s game.
As Glazer states, McCarthy didn’t think much of the ailment, but was checked out by the Cowboys’ training staff and immediately taken in for surgery after they had discovered his ruptured appendix.
As for Sunday night’s game, McCarthy plans to be out there coaching his team from the sidelines. He said he’s doing “great” and plans to be standing for most of the contest.

The Cowboys enter the game with a 9-3 record, just one win behind the 10-2 Eagles. This game could very well determine not only who wins the NFC East, but who may also get home-field advantage should these two teams meet up once more in January.
