ESPN sportscaster Mike Greenberg went scorched earth on Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis following his firing of head coach Josh McDaniels on Wednesday.
It was announced that both McDaniels and general manager Dave Ziegler had been terminated by the team while most people were fast asleep in the wee hours of the morning.
While firing McDaniels was clearly the right decision, Greenberg chastised Davis for having appointed eight different coaches over the last 12 years, accusing him of turning the team into “a laughingstock and a circus.”
“If there’s a lesson to be taken from this, never go to the Raiders if you’re looking for stability,” he said on Wednesday’s episode of ‘Get Up’. “That’s a terrible idea.”
“The second thing that needs to be said is, if you think he has an important hire, well he’s had a lot of practice doing it,” he added. “Since his father died in 2011 this is now the eighth different person who will be coaching this team in 12 years. Let’s face it, Mark Davis has turned the Raiders into a laughingstock and a circus.”
Marcus Spears would add that perhaps there is a lesson to be learned from all of the mistakes Davis has made over the years as he’s now set to pay two coaches who don’t work for him.

The Raiders have appointed linebackers coach Antonio Pierce as the interim head coach and will conduct a search for a permanent replacement at the end of the season.
Of course, there is a chance of Pierce staying on as HC if he manages to turn things around and finish the campaign with a decent record.
