Good Morning America host Michael Strahan made a late bid to be a backup singer for Rihanna at the Super Bowl, but he failed miserably.
Strahan, who interviewed the superstar singer ahead of her Super Bowl 57 halftime show performance, is clearly better suited to journalism. However, he put himself out there in an attempt to impress RiRi during their pre-Super Bowl sitdown.
Rihanna appeared to be blindsided by Michael attempting to sing her “Needed Me.”
“When I heard you were doing the Super Bowl, I was like, okay, you’re gonna be at Halftime, I get a front-row seat,” he said.
“Do you need a backup?” he proceeded to ask before breaking out into song.
Thrown off by the proposal, Rihanna took a second to regain her composure before asking, “You!?”

“Yeah, well, that was a rehearsal,” a flushed Strahan insisted before trying again.
“It wasn’t terrible,” Rihanna quipped. “I’ve heard worse.”
They then shared a laugh over the moment before resuming the interview.
Can’t fault the guy for trying…
Rihanna, who clearly isn’t afraid of heights, made an above-sea-level appearance at the State Farm Stadium on Sunday to stun viewers with an amazing performance, as well as a baby bump. It’s since been confirmed that she’s pregnant, having given birth to her first child last year.
