Michael Strahan screwed up big time.
The San Francisco 49ers are on their way back to the Super Bowl after beating the Detroit Lions, 34–31, in a thrilling NFC championship game Sunday night at Levi’s Stadium but the celebration had a huge damper on it after Fox’s Michael Strahan botched the NFC championship trophy presentation in many different ways in such a short amount of time.
Strahan, who was filling in for Terry Bradshaw, failed to let Joe Montant speak as he just stood there awkwardly holding the trophy.
“Joe Montana take it away,” Strahan said after handing the trophy to Montana, “it goes to this man right here, Mr. Jed York.”
Montana held the trophy in the background while Strahan interviewed York, and then told him, “Joe, you can pass that off.”
Strahan then asked Kyle Shanahan about what it was like going into halftime down 17–0, but that wasn’t the score at the time.
“Now coach, you were down 17-0 going in at the halftime,” Strahan asked Shanahan. “We want to know: What did you tell your team that they came out the second half and looked like the team that we expected them to look like in the first half?”

The 49ers did trail by 17 at halftime, but they were down 24-7.
Strahan also stated Christian McCaffrey signed with the 49ers when he was actually traded there from the Carolina Panthers.
Fans may complain about Terry Bradshaw at times, but he clearly knows what he’s doing out there and it shows that not everybody is good at every job.
In the meantime, Super Bowl 58 features a rematch of the Chiefs and 49ers, who met on Super Sunday four years ago.
Last year, the Kansas City Chiefs won their second Super Bowl in the Patrick Mahomes era and are looking to go back-to-back.
The 2024 Super Bowl takes place on Feb. 11 in Las Vegas. This year, Usher will take the stage to headline the halftime show at Allegiant Stadium.
