The movie depicting Michael Oher’s rise to prominence, ‘The Blind Side’, is 14 years old now. But it’s the subject of a saga in 2023 as the former NFL offensive tackle has filed a lawsuit against Leigh Ann and Sean Tuohy, claiming they never adopted him and had him sign a conservatorship instead.
Oher asserts that the move allowed the Tuohys to profit from business deals, including the 2009 film, which he says made them and their children millions while he didn’t receive a single penny.
The new publicity surrounding the movie and those involved saw a huge crowd come out to show support for the Super Bowl winner during a book signing event.
Ole Miss beat writer Jake Thompson has shared some photos from the signing at Off Square Books showing more than a few people coming to get their books signed, with the store packed and a line outside reaching the parking lot.
Oher’s claims of being tricked into a conservatorship have been drawing a lot of attention this week. That much is apparent given the number of people who showed up to the signing.
It will be really interesting to see what the courts make of the whole thing.
