Michael Irvin could be in trouble with the law again as the former NFL wide receiver is reportedly under investigation for undisclosed allegations.
According to NBC Sports’ ProFootballTalk, Irvin, who now works as an analyst and is a contributor on FOX’s ‘Undisputed’, is being investigated by the Allen, Texas Police Department. Said department confirmed as much after the outlet reached out but did not provide any details.
“There has been an allegation, but we are not prepared to release any details at this time due to our investigation being in its very early stages,” Allen PD Public Information Officer Jonathan Maness told PFT by email, in response to a question regarding whether Irvin is currently facing any type of allegation or investigation. (Obviously, we asked the question based on a tip that there is something going on.)”
Irvin’s attorney, Levi McCathern, has asserted that the Hall of Famer is innocent.
“He didn’t do anything wrong or inappropriate,” McCathern stated, adding that Irvin “vehemently denies” any wrongdoing, and the accusations “will turn out to be much ado about nothing.”
Irvin was suspended by both the NFL Network and ESPN after an employee of the Marriot Hotel accused him of sexual misconduct before last year’s Super Bowl. He was not charged, with surveillance footage suggesting he hadn’t acted out of the way, and subsequently sued the Marriot, which has since moved to settle.
