Fans are really feeling it for Hall of Famer Michael Irvin following a sad announcement made during the NFL Draft.
The former Dallas Cowboys star is currently on suspension from the NFL Network and had to watch the draft at home this Thursday. The Network took Irvin off Super Bowl coverage after he was accused of making unreasonable advances toward a female employee at the Marriot hotel earlier in 2023; he has also been made to miss this year’s draft as a result.
Irvin took to Twitter during the event to express his disappointment at being kept on the bench, claiming missing the draft is even harder than missing the Super Bowl.
“This is different. It’s hard watching the red carpet of the NFL draft,” he wrote, adding embarrassed and heartbroken emojis. “Even more so than the #Super #Bowl!! The Super Bowl is a congratulatory moment at the end of a long season. The draft is the Genesis of a young man’s dream, his career and his journey. My heart [is broken].”
Fans lent their support to the former wide receiver, and you could see some of the reactions right below:

Irvin has denied the allegations brought against him and has filed a lawsuit against his accuser. While video footage seems to support the 57-year-old and several eyewitnesses have spoken up in his defense, Irvin’s employers refuse to give him the benefit of the doubt and are keeping him away from their programming, at least until his case is resolved.
The NFL Network has stopped short of dismissing Irvin as they could find themselves on the end of a suit if he’s proven innocent. But it appears they’re also keen on keeping Marriot happy as millions could be lost if their partnership is severed.
