With the game on the line in Super Bowl LVI, Aaron Donald came through with arguably the biggest play of his career, and his head coach knew he would do it.
Facing a fourth down and needing a a few yeards for a first, Donald quickly pressured Joe Burrow with 43 seconds left in the game, forcing an incompletion and a turnover on downs.
Just before the play happened, Sean McVay turned to Donald and told him, “this is the moment.”
He then added to it by saying, “For the world championship right here. Aaron Donald’s gonna make a play,” he said.
After Donald made the play, McVay chased down Donald and gave him a bear hug.
“Aaron. Come here. I knew. Great job. I knew you would make that play!” he said.

With the Rams’ 23-20 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals, McVay has finally reached the culmination of a journey he began when became the youngest head coach in modern NFL history.
Both McVay and Donald remained quiet about possible retirement rumors after the game.
