One of the most highly debated moments from Sunday’s week 15 action involved Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh, who, for the second time in three weeks, decided to go for two after a late touchdown to try and win the game, rather than just kicking the extra point and taking it to overtime.
Yesterday, he made the decision against the Green Bay Packers at home, as Tyler Huntley had just brought the Ravens to within a point with an 8-yard touchdown run. With just 42 seconds remaining in the ballgame, Harbaugh could have kicked the extra point and played for overtime. But, just like he did a few weeks ago against the Steelers, he decided to try and win the game in regulation by going for two…
And for the second time, the decision proved to be costly, as Huntley’s pass fell incomplete and the Packers escaped with the 31-30 victory.
Harbaugh backed up his decision during his post-game press conference, and now we have an inside look at how he came to that decision, via the Ravens’ Twitter account:
While Harbaugh’s decisions to go for two haven’t been translating to victories, it’s hard to fault him for these decisions.
Based on the clip above, one thing’s for sure: He’s certainly not losing any respect from his teammates as a result of these failed two-point conversions.
