Dallas Cowboys star linebacker Micah Parsons made a comment that some are interpreting as a shot at Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts.
Parsons and Buffalo Bills superstar Von Miller talked about the NFL MVP race during an episode of “The Voncast”. When discussing Hurts, Parsons simply asked, “Is it Hurts or the team?” Miller responded by suggesting it’s “both.
The 2021 Defensive Rookie of the Year suggested it’s the “system” and the “team.” You can watch a video of their discussion below:
The MVP award often goes to the quarterback on the best team, but Hurts’ strong play will certainly garner plenty of consideration from the MVP voters. The Eagles’ 2020 second-round pick has led his team to a 12-1 record, completing 68.0 percent of pass attempts for 3,157 yards and 22 touchdowns against just three picks.
Hurts has also been a force on the ground, recording 686 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns. Entering Week 15, the Eagles have the most potent offense in football, averaging 29.7 points per game.
Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes is also a top candidate to win the award. Mahomes, who won the honors in 2018, has completed 65.8 percent of his pass attempts for 4,160 yards and 33 touchdowns against 11 interceptions.

Parsons and his Cowboys will have a chance to damage Hurts’ chances of winning the MVP award when Dallas hosts their NFC East rivals on Christmas Eve at AT&T Stadium. For what it’s worth, Parsons has recorded half a sack in two career games against Philly.
No Eagles player has won the NFL MVP award. Of course, Carson Wentz would have likely won the honors in 2017 if he didn’t suffer a season-ending ACL tear against the Los Angeles Rams.
But Hurts is in strong position to end that drought here in 2022. There are four weeks to go, but right now, it feels like a two-man competition between Mahomes and Hurts.
