Tua Tagovailoa is back in concussion protocol amid what has been a worrying season for the Miami Dolphins quarterback.
Tua got off to a great start for Miami in 2022 but has been concussed twice so far, with the latest coming in a Christmas Day fixture against the Green bay Packers. This marks the second official injury of such nature for the QB but many are of the view that it’s been third time unlucky for Tua, whom the Dolphins deny was concussed at the first hint of suspicion back in September.
Given his recent history, there’s been speculation over the signal caller possibly retiring. At the very least, he shouldn’t play again this season.
He’s Not Going To Stop Playing Football
Tua’s brother, Taulia Tagovailoa, spoke to The Associated Press’ Tim Reynolds this week and rebuffed the notion.
“Everyone has their opinion,” Taulia remarked. “My brother, I know he works hard. I know he has a family now. I want my brother to be safe, but at the same time I know that he has a love and a passion for football. I feel like he is going to make the right decision. The biggest thing is staying safe, so that is something he has to pray on. I know when it comes down to it, he will make the right decision.”

“I just feel like he’s not going to stop playing football,” he added. “I feel like every opportunity he has, he is going to try to play. I don’t know, it’s just ‘go until the wheels fall off.’”
This is not at all surprising. Tua’s a professional footballer and you’d struggle to find a pro who would be ready to call it quits that soon, despite the circumstances. While it may not be the best thing for his health, Tua wants to play – and he will play as long as he’s allowed to. Hopefully, he can make a full recovery and avoid similar situations in future.
Of course, Tua’s long-term future is still vague, but we do know that he will not be out there when the Dolphins play the New England Patriots this Sunday, with Teddy Bridgewater already named as the starting QB.
