NFL players put themselves in jeopardy every time they step on the field, and Miami Dolphins Coach Mike McDaniel understands this.
Following a play where Wide Receiver Daewood Davis got knocked unconscious during last night’s preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, play was immediately stopped. McDaniel was visibly upset and spoke about it at the games closing press conference.
A head coach showing emotion for a player is a human moment and a welcomed one. Davis was knocked unconscious in the 4th quarter of the game with just under 9 minutes remaining. He was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation. He had movement in all of his extremities following the hit and has since been released from the hospital.
It’s bad enough seeing a player go down due to injury, but with the Damar Hamlin injury still fresh in the minds of players and fans alike, it is completely understandable to stop the game.
The Dolphins have seen a number of scary injuries over the past season, with the infamous incident of Tua Tagovailoa being knocked out and his body contorted. Davis’ injury thankfully doesn’t appear to be serious or career-threatening as he looks to rejoin his team today following his release.
