The Miami Dolphins have added a two-time Super Bowl champion to bolster their defense.
Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Miami id “expected to sign” veteran edge rusher and three-time Pro Bowler Jason Pierre-Paul off of the New Orleans Saints’ practice squad. The Super Bowl 46 and Super Bowl 55 champion later confirmed via Instagram that he is indeed Miami bound.
The Saints recently added Pierre-Paul to their practice squad, and he debuted for the team in Sunday’s Week 12 road loss to the Atlanta Falcons. Pierre-Paul’s short-lived tenure with the Saints has ended, but he now gets the opportunity to chase a third ring on one of the AFC’s top teams.
Pierre-Paul won his first Super Bowl championship ring with the New York Giants in the 2011 season. He was traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2018 and played a pivotal role in their Super Bowl 55 championship-winning season, earning his third (and most recent) Pro Bowl nod after recording 9.5 sacks.
Pierre-Paul had just 2.5 sacks for the Bucs in the 2021 season and wasn’t brought back after a four-year run with the organization. He joined the Baltimore Ravens last year and finished with three sacks in 14 games.
