Jevon Holland was really excited about getting his first interception in the NFL.
Jaylen Waddle had nine catches for a season-best 137 yards and a touchdown, and the Miami Dolphins forced Cam Newton into one of the worst statistical days of his career, on their way to beating the Carolina Panthers 33-10 on Sunday.
Newton finished with 92 yards passing, no touchdowns and two interceptions.
One of those interceptions went to Dolphins rookie safety Jevon Holland. To celebrate the feat, he took to Instagram and personally thanked Cam Newton for tossing the ball to him.
The win was the fourth straight for the Dolphins’ following a seven-game losing streak. It keeps their distant playoff hopes alive at 5-7.
The defense has been a big part of their recent success. They have not given up more than 20 points during their current win-streak, limiting the Panthers, Jets, Ravens and Texans to 10, 17, 10 and 9 points, respectively. This team is suddenly looking like the Fins squad that finished a surprised 10-6 last season, thanks in large part to solid play from their defense.
