When The Miami Dolphins take the field in their playoff game against the Buffalo Bills, they may be without one of their key offensive weapons in next week’s wild card matchup.
According to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, running back Raheem Mostert suffered a broken thumb during the team’s Week 18 playoff-clinching game against the New York Jets. Because of that injury, it now leaves his status for the playoff game in doubt.
The news adds to Miami’s injury woes in the backfield as quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s status remains unclear after he suffered a Christmas Day concussion against the Green Bay Packers.
Tagovailoa has missed two straight games since sustaining the head injury, his third of the season. Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports that Tagovailoa remained in Stage 3 of the NFL’s five-stage concussion protocol on Sunday. He won’t be eligible to play until he clears all five stages.
Mostert leads the Dolphins this season with 891 rushing yards and three touchdowns. He has also tallied 31 catches for 202 yards and two more touchdowns. If he’s unable to go, backup Jeff Wilson is in line for a heavier work load.

The Dolphins’ win on Sunday was their first in four games this season with Tagovailoa sidelined.
If Tua can’t go, third-string rookie Skylar Thompson will play. Thompson finished 20 of 31 on Sunday for 152 yards without a turnover.
