Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross is in talks to sell a stake in the AFC East team, Hard Rock Stadium and F1 Miami with a well-known American billionaire.
Per a report from Andy Slater of FOX Sports 640, Ross is in talks with hedge fund manager Kenneth C. Griffin about selling the stakes. The 55-year-old Griffin is the founder of Citadel LLC, which is headquartered in Miami.
According to Forbes, Griffin is worth $35.2 billion. He is listed as by Forbes as of the world’s 40 wealthiest people
In their most recent valuations, Forbes listed Miami as the 11th-most valuable team in the NFL at $5.7 billion. They barely missed out on the top-10, with the Philadelphia Eagles ranked slightly ahead at $5.8 billion.
The 83-year-old Ross purchased one half of the Dolphins’ team in 2008 before buying another 45 percent in 2009. Ross was regarded as one of the worst owners in football during his first decade at the helm, but the Dolphins have turned a corner in the 2010s decade.
Miami is on track to record its fourth straight winning season thanks to a potent offense led by Tua Tagovailoa, Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, De’Von Achane and Raheem Mostert. Miami enters Week 12 with a 7-3 record, with the Buffalo Bills sitting well behind them at 6-5.
