The NFL has gone to great lengths to expand its international footprint with regular season games in foreign countries and now the Miami Dolphins are next up to be showcased.
Back in September, the league sent officials to investigate the possibility of playing future international games in Spain and Brazil, NFL executive vice president Peter O’Reilly told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
In 2021, the league assigned Spain to the Miami Dolphins and Chicago Beas. The Dolphins also have rights in Brazil as well.
Speaking of Brazil, that is exactly where the team will be opening up their 2024 season.
The game will be played at Neo Química Arena next September. Possible opponents for the game include AFC East rivals in the New York Jets, New England Patriots, and Buffalo Bills.

The Dolphins had a Brazilian player on their practice squad for three years. Offensive and defensive lineman Durval Queiroz Neto spent time with the team via the International Pathway Program. He appeared in preseason games but was never a member of the active roster.
The NFL began its international slate this year when they played three consecutive games in London. The league also traveled to Germany for two games.
Miami is off to a 9-3 start and currently holds the top seed in the AFC.
